Staying Ahead Of The Trends By Sticking With The Past

Fashion trends may change often, but they always seem to come back around. Reoccurring fashion trends may not always have the best style, but taking some of the better ones or key pieces of the not so good ones and making them into your own style is the best trend there is. The Bohemian look has pretty much always been fashionable and is pretty easy to achieve.

One of the greatest fashion finds for any woman is great jewelry. And what woman wouldn’t love antique engagement rings to go with her bohemian fashion look. These loved pieces of jewelry often have fascinating stories behind them and wearing them can really take you back in time. Lots of jewelry, especially rings and necklaces are key to successfully pulling off this look.

To accomplish this look, you need the perfect pair of jeans. Not every style fits well, but something that is low rise and flared in the legs will give a new look to an old fashion style. Try to stay away from new looking jeans. You want something worn out looking, well loved. Perhaps a hole or two that are well placed or even a few little patches. Anything that will make your jeans look like they have been through some adventures.

Some people prefer the sandal look with this style. However, for a a better look, why not try the brown boot. Boots look great with jeans and they can be work any time of year and through any season. Plus, while not everyone looks good in sandals, anyone can wear a pair of boots and look great.

Now you will need a top. Something peasant style would be perfect. Just about anything that has a light and airy look and feel to it, perhaps adorning delicate flower print and some hand embroidery on the trim. This gives the top an earthy look which is perfect for the 1960′s.

To complete your look, you are going to need the perfect bag. Hobo bags are big enough to store just about everything in and stylish enough to make you look good. They are great for travels or even just running errands around town. Another great accessory you should not forget is a pair of sunglasses. Something oversize fits this look well.

Even though styles come and go doesn’t mean you cant stay ahead of them, dressing to your own style. Maintaining some key pieces that will carry you throughout many fads and trends is key however to saving money and staying ahead of the fashion trends. Pieces can be intermingled into other looks and styles, creating a fascinating look all your own.

How John Learned To Love The Simple Life

John’s life ended, or so he thought, on the day that he lost his job. He had worked hard for success and now his lifestyle was threatened. What was he going to do without all his expensive toys? How would he attract women into his bed? John liked the fast lane and didn’t look forward to getting off the freeway.

After the shock wore off, John picked himself up again and started pounding the pavement, looking for work. He hadn’t lost his job because he wasn’t good at it, so he was confident that if a job was available, he would have a good shot at getting it.

It took almost half a year before John realized that he was dreaming. He was an upmarket real estate salesperson. That was fine. It was just that the market had dried up, so he wasn’t needed. He couldn’t even get in the door on a straight commission. Everyone in town had already cut back on staff and the sales staff they had weren’t going to accept having a newcomer steal what few leads they had.

In a strange twist of fate, John ended up going back to one of those offices and giving them his penthouse condo to sell. That was one bit of good luck he had going for him, because he had bought it very cheaply when it went up for foreclosure many years before. On the other hand, he sold it cheap, too. When it all came out of the wash, he realized he couldn’t afford to live in the expensive part of town anymore.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but John had few options left when he finally accepted a job in a small real estate office in a little rural tourist town a few hours drive from the city. Although he could have put a down payment on a little place, John decided to rent instead.

Clearly, John’s big king-sized bed wasn’t going to fit into his tiny bedroom. He went out and bought a loft bed, to maximize the space he did have. Once he got over feeling sorry for himself, he came to love the loft. It reminded him of the bunk bed he’d had as a kid.

He had some expensive modern bar stools, but they just didn’t look right in his new home. Except for his favorite leather lounge, he sold everything else.

He bought some wood bar stools from an old man in his new town who turned them out on a lathe and sold them out of his garage. John loved those stools and got to know the old man well.

Little by little, John settled into his new life and actually came to enjoy it. He looked back on his old life and wondered why he had been so driven to succeed. He had time to ‘smell the roses’ here and life was good. As it turned out, he didn’t have to worry about attracting women, either. He found the love of his life and they got married.

My First Year At College Was Tough

I remember just like it was yesterday, leaving my family, friends, home, and girlfriend to go away to college. High School always seemed like it would last forever, each year longer than the last, but now that I was destined for adulthood, I wanted nothing more than to go back! In time I would get through it and become an adult.

I stayed in the dorms my freshman year. Every single dorm room was packed floor to ceiling with modern conveniences like mini fridges, rice cookers, microwave ovens, or whatever could fit into these tiny rooms. They were cold, plain walls that looked like cinder block and painted a drab white. Thank God you shared the room, as even though it made it even more cramped, it felt pretty lonely in your little box.

My first week or so was absolutely mad with me running around like a crazed chicken trying to find my classrooms. It was hard enough just trying to keep track of my class times, never mind locations. One day I was running late and came careening down a corridor and crashed right into a professor. I knocked his pipe out his hand. He didn’t look pleased as he held out one of those handheld vacuums for me to clean up the tobacco.

I got used to it pretty quickly, started to meed people, and found my way around pretty well fitting in socially with new people. I missed my girlfriend like mad, though. She was still in High School. She was gorgeous, long brown hair and lovely green eyes. I missed her like mad, and she missed me too, though not for long as she ended up dumping me over the phone one night.

There was tons do do at college to keep myself busy. Apart from studying and prepping for exams, I’d met lots of cool people and pretty girls. It was like I was partying every single night. It did get kind of old in time, and I moved of campus for my second year.

By the time I got to year two, I’d hooked up with a group of guys and we agreed to rent an apartment off campus together. I managed to swing getting the largest room, with a full size loft bed, and I had my desk right underneath it, it was great.

My first year at university had it’s hardships but I did get through it and thrived. I will always recall those days with fond memories and I recommend all young people who feel hesitant to let go and enjoy themselves.

Roughing It And Loving It In The Country

If your idea of a wonderful life is a rural life, living in the country may be right for you. Whether for a vacation or for the rest of your years, a rustic environment does have its charms. Of course, it also does have its demands, if you are to be comfortable and have your basic needs met. With some planning and thought, you can certainly have the best of both worlds – creature comforts plus peace and quiet.

The first thing to think about with regard to life in a rural setting is being well stocked with supplies of all kinds. Depending on how far you are from the nearest town, it may be difficult to get to a store very easily if you run out of something. Food and other supplies should be stockpiled and managed carefully so that you don’t need to make an emergency trip for an item or two. Instead have planned shopping days and make sure you have enough to last for the periods in between.

Having a well on the property, as is likely, is a wonderful source of water as long as it works. Should anything go wrong, though, either with the water or the means to pump it, you could be in dire straits. Protect yourself from this situation by having a large storage tank that the well constantly tops off, and also have a generator on hand for emergency electricity. Also stash bottles of water for drinking, cooking and washing, enough to last until you can get into town or fix the problem with your well.

You should have some self-sufficiency with regard to emergency situations that may occur, as personnel from town may take some time to get to you when you need them. Make sure you have first aid supplies and know basic first aid procedures, including CPR.

Avoid emergency situations whenever you can, of course, both in terms of your own and your family’s personal safety, and that of your house. Keep a large area all around it clear of brush as well as overgrown trees and bushes. You can easily accomplish this with a light duty Homelite chainsaw. In the event of a forest fire, the cleared area will serve as a barrier until firefighters can put out the blaze.

While you are busy clearing the land around your house, you might consider having a garden to produce your own fruits and vegetables. This is not only very satisfying, but also very practical. Between eating your fresh homegrown produce and perhaps the extra that you have put up in cans, you will be independent of extra trips to the store for such perishables.

If your home does not have central heat, or if you do not want the expense of gas or electric heaters, you may decide to have an air-tight fireplace. These can work quite well to keep a house warm in winter. Or even if you do have other means of heat, you may enjoy the beauty of an open fireplace, for ambiance as well as a little heat. If the property is wooded, you can get all the free firewood you like. A heavy duty Husqvarna chainsaw will be equal to the task of cutting felled trees into rounds that can then be split for firewood.

So here you are, in your rustic country home. You have a full pantry, a storage tank brimming with water, plenty to eat and drink, a nicely cleared and landscaped yard and a garden area. Next to the fireplace is a stack of firewood, and out in the utility shed are several more cords, enough to last all winter. Relax, have a cup of tea, perhaps settle down to do some sewing on the patchwork quilt set you’re making for your sleigh bed. The country life is a good life.

Use Rewards To Make Weight Loss Easier

Shedding the pounds can be a difficult proposition. It requires effort, time, and determination. Sometimes it is beneficial to allow yourself a reward when you achieve an intermediate milestone. If you plan to lose sixty pounds, for example, you might give yourself a special treat for each fifteen pounds you lose. It is common for dieters to want to reward themselves with a forbidden food, but other types of treats are preferable. While one sundae or piece of cake will not instantly result in regaining the pounds, it can lead to a binge or bring back cravings you have already overcome. Instead, select a special luxury you can use to reward yourself without bringing food into the picture.

Rewards do not have to be expensive. A skin softening bath oil, scented candle, and after bath lotion let you create a special environment for a relaxing soak in the tub. Afterwards, curl up with the book you have been meaning to read or your favorite movie.

Perhaps a jewelry set would be more to your liking, such as a pendant with matching earrings. You can buy costume pieces if you need to watch your budget, or shop major sales to find quality jewelry at a discount. You may also want to consider items that you would have avoided before you lost weight, such as very delicate chains or eye catching pendants.

It may be too early to purchase a new wardrobe if you still have quite a way to go until you reach your final goal. Instead, you could select accessories that you can enjoy now and continue to enjoy even after the final pound is shed. One option would be a beautiful crystal necklace. A silk scarf or a pair of soft gloves for the winter could also be good selections.

A day spa might provide the incentive you need to keep your spirits from sagging. A relaxing massage, facial, and manicure could be just what you need to boost your determination. You might also want to consider a new hair style provided by either the spa or a popular salon.

A new bag might be your preference for a reward. Hobo bags keep increasing in popularity, and are available in economical models as well as more models from major designers. A tote made of brightly colored fabric could provide the whimsical, playful touch you need. If you prefer having a pocket for everything, you could also select an organizer bag.

Spend some time at an upscale perfume counter and find a scent you truly love. It is best, however, to try fewer than four different scents per day. Your sense of smell can be overwhelmed by too many different choices, which makes it hard for you to judge properly. Once you decide on one, you could also purchase the bubble bath, soap, or bath powder to match.

As you shop for your current reward, make a note of items you would like to have. Plan ahead for the treats you will allow yourself at each level. Write them down beside the weight loss goal so that you have something to review as you progress. Sometimes, reminding yourself of the rewards you will be receiving in addition to the pounds lost can help you weather a moment of weakness or frustration.
